A Letter from the President

Anne-Marie Jones shares the power of turning on a tap — and the movement making it possible.

That sound you just heard - the sound of clean, running water - is easy to take for granted. Most of us do. We turn a handle and water comes on, and we rarely think about all of the ways that simple motion impacts our daily lives.

Think about your morning. Water made the coffee. Water washed your face, brushed your teeth, flushed the toilet and washed your hands without a second thought. By noon it has cleaned up that spill and washed sports uniforms for tomorrow’s game, and by night it has cooked dinner, bathed your kids and helped your mom take her medicine before she went to sleep. One tap, touched a dozen times a day, holding the whole rhythm of a life.

But in more than 2 million homes across this country, that rhythm doesn’t exist. No running water. No working toilet. Every one of those ordinary moments becomes a calculation: how much is left in the tank, how far is the drive to fill it, what gets skipped today.

If you’re learning that for the first time, you’re not alone.

Many Americans have never heard of the water access gap, even though it runs through communities in all 50 states. And if you’ve walked with us for years, you know what comes next: this problem is solvable. We are solving it. Together.

In 2025, we crossed a milestone: more than 10,000 people now have access to clean, running water and sanitation at home because of this work.

The first 10,000 people are proof of what’s possible. And every time a tap turns on, that rhythm gets a little louder and more people become aware of it. Thank you for being a part of this work.
